I wish you all a wonderful Christmas!

Sunday, December 19, 2010

Hi! We had a lot of snow those last days so we had to stay inside. That means quilting and baking! I used that time making cinnamon rolls, Christmas cookies... My kids loved that!
I loved quilting that pictural quilt, I learnt a lot! I also loved the 2 others using civil war fabrics! And the baby quilt is adorable, the pattern is from Australia.
This week has been hard for me as a mom, my son had to have a cast from shoulders to hips, I know it is to help him but... I hate to see him in pain...
I am feeling a bit better though as he is better today. Have a great week and stay warm!

Hi, if you were wondering where I was, I went to Shipshewana to the Dear Jane retreat! How fun! The weather has been nice for November, and visiting friends was great! Here is some quilts I finished, the last one is a Hug quilt for a good friend, Caroline and we presented it to her in Shipshewana! She was thrilled!

Nice and warm today, a great change! I planted some tulips for next spring and I baked a cinnamon apple cake today, it smelled good in the kitchen! I have finally been able to put together my wool applique blocks! I love them! I really like the quilting I did on that Amish revisited quilt!
Until next time... Val

The other day, as it was nice outside, we went for a walk...

Fall is now here, our yard was all white this morning...  I have been busy making some Maple leaves, very seasonal!
I went to the U-pick farm and bought some pumpkins, I then made pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins and pumpkin cheesecake, so good!!!

The other day I went with Randy and Katy to Brussels to meet with Caroline, we had fun! We had a delicious typical Belgian lunch: Mussels with French fries, Waterzooi, gratin d'endives... Then of course we had to have a waffel, with chocolate for me!

And here is what I quilted lately... Have a great week end!

For the first time, I quilted a Dear Jane! Wow, I was a bit scared but I did it and I love it!

The top has been entirely and beautifully hand pieced. She did a wonderful job! I took a picture of the top laying on the floor and then another one, same place but after it has been quilted to show that when a quilt top is nicely hand (or machine) pieced, the machine quilting does not distort in any way the quilt. If a top lays nice, flat and square on the floor, the quilt will be nice, flat and square! I have been asked that question, so I thought it would be better to give an example... And this one is not an easy piecing! Now it's a gorgeous quilt I think! I am excited to work on mine now, I am still on the piecing stage... Better keep sewing! It is really worth the result! Have a great week end!
